Al Baqarah 241 - 250
Al Baqarah (Cow Girl)
241
ﻭَﻟِﻠْﻤُﻄَﻠَّﻘٰﺖِ ﻣَﺘَﺎﻉٌ ۢﺑِﺎﻟْﻤَﻌْﺮُﻭْﻑِۗ ﺣَﻘًّﺎ ﻋَﻠَﻰ
ﺍﻟْﻤُﺘَّﻘِﻴْﻦَ
wa lil-muṭallaqāti matā'um bil-ma'rụf, ḥaqqan
'alal-muttaqīn
And for divorced women, mut'ah should be given
in a proper manner, as an obligation for the pious.
242
ﻛَﺬٰﻟِﻚَ ﻳُﺒَﻴِّﻦُ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﻟَﻜُﻢْ ﺍٰﻳٰﺘِﻪٖ ﻟَﻌَﻠَّﻜُﻢْ ﺗَﻌْﻘِﻠُﻮْﻥَ
każālika yubayyinullāhu lakum āyātihī
la'allakum ta'qilụn
Thus Allah explains to you His verses so that you
may understand.
243
۞ ﺍَﻟَﻢْ ﺗَﺮَ ﺍِﻟَﻰ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺧَﺮَﺟُﻮْﺍ ﻣِﻦْ ﺩِﻳَﺎﺭِﻫِﻢْ
ﻭَﻫُﻢْ ﺍُﻟُﻮْﻑٌ ﺣَﺬَﺭَ ﺍﻟْﻤَﻮْﺕِۖ ﻓَﻘَﺎﻝَ ﻟَﻬُﻢُ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ
ﻣُﻮْﺗُﻮْﺍ ۗ ﺛُﻢَّ ﺍَﺣْﻴَﺎﻫُﻢْ ۗ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﻟَﺬُﻭْ ﻓَﻀْﻞٍ
ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺎﺱِ ﻭَﻟٰﻜِﻦَّ ﺍَﻛْﺜَﺮَ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺎﺱِ ﻟَﺎ ﻳَﺸْﻜُﺮُﻭْﻥَ
a lam tara ilallażīna kharajụ min diyārihim wa
hum ulụfun ḥażaral-mauti fa qāla
lahumullāhu mụtụ, ṡumma aḥyāhum,
innallāha lażụ faḍlin 'alan-nāsi wa lākinna
akṡaran-nāsi lā yasykurụn
Do you not pay attention to those who leave their
homes, while there are thousands for fear of death?
Then God said to them, "Die!" Then God revived
them. Lo! Allah giveth grace to mankind, but most
of mankind are ungrateful.
244
ﻭَﻗَﺎﺗِﻠُﻮْﺍ ﻓِﻲْ ﺳَﺒِﻴْﻞِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﻭَﺍﻋْﻠَﻤُﻮْٓﺍ ﺍَﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ
ﺳَﻤِﻴْﻊٌ ﻋَﻠِﻴْﻢٌ
wa qātilụ fī sabīlillāhi wa'lamū annallāha
samī'un 'alīm
And fight in the way of Allah, and know that Allah is
All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
245
ﻣَﻦْ ﺫَﺍ ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻱْ ﻳُﻘْﺮِﺽُ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﻗَﺮْﺿًﺎ ﺣَﺴَﻨًﺎ
ﻓَﻴُﻀٰﻌِﻔَﻪٗ ﻟَﻪٗٓ ﺍَﺿْﻌَﺎﻓًﺎ ﻛَﺜِﻴْﺮَﺓً ۗﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﻳَﻘْﺒِﺾُ
ﻭَﻳَﺒْﺼُۣﻂُۖ ﻭَﺍِﻟَﻴْﻪِ ﺗُﺮْﺟَﻌُﻮْﻥَ
man żallażī yuqriḍullāha qarḍan ḥasanan fa
yuḍā'ifahụ lahū aḍ'āfang kaṡīrah, wallāhu
yaqbiḍu wa yabṣuṭu wa ilaihi turja'ụn
Whoever borrows from Allah with a good loan, then
Allah multiplies the reward to him by many. Allah
withholds and expands (sustenance) and to Him
you will be returned.
246
ﺍَﻟَﻢْ ﺗَﺮَ ﺍِﻟَﻰ ﺍﻟْﻤَﻠَﺎِ ﻣِﻦْۢ ﺑَﻨِﻲْٓ ﺍِﺳْﺮَﺍۤﺀِﻳْﻞَ ﻣِﻦْۢ ﺑَﻌْﺪِ
ﻣُﻮْﺳٰﻰۘ ﺍِﺫْ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْﺍ ﻟِﻨَﺒِﻲٍّ ﻟَّﻬُﻢُ ﺍﺑْﻌَﺚْ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ﻣَﻠِﻜًﺎ
ﻧُّﻘَﺎﺗِﻞْ ﻓِﻲْ ﺳَﺒِﻴْﻞِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ۗ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻫَﻞْ ﻋَﺴَﻴْﺘُﻢْ ﺍِﻥْ
ﻛُﺘِﺐَ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻜُﻢُ ﺍﻟْﻘِﺘَﺎﻝُ ﺍَﻟَّﺎ ﺗُﻘَﺎﺗِﻠُﻮْﺍ ۗ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْﺍ ﻭَﻣَﺎ
ﻟَﻨَﺎٓ ﺍَﻟَّﺎ ﻧُﻘَﺎﺗِﻞَ ﻓِﻲْ ﺳَﺒِﻴْﻞِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ﻭَﻗَﺪْﺍُﺧْﺮِﺟْﻨَﺎ
ﻣِﻦْ ﺩِﻳَﺎﺭِﻧَﺎ ﻭَﺍَﺑْﻨَﺎۤﻯِٕﻨَﺎ ۗ ﻓَﻠَﻤَّﺎ ﻛُﺘِﺐَ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻬِﻢُ
ﺍﻟْﻘِﺘَﺎﻝُ ﺗَﻮَﻟَّﻮْﺍ ﺍِﻟَّﺎ ﻗَﻠِﻴْﻠًﺎ ﻣِّﻨْﻬُﻢْ ۗﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ
ﻋَﻠِﻴْﻢٌ ۢﺑِﺎﻟﻈّٰﻠِﻤِﻴْﻦَ
a lam tara ilal-mala`i mim banī isrā`īla mim
ba'di mụsā, iż qālụ linabiyyil lahumub'aṡ lanā
malikan-nuqātil fī sabīlillāh, qāla hal 'asaitum
ing kutiba 'alaikumul-qitālu allā tuqātilụ, qālụ
wa mā lanā allā nuqātila fī sabīlillāhi wa qad
ukhrijnā min diyārinā wa abnā`inā, fa lammā
kutiba 'alaihimul-qitālu tawallau illā qalīlam
min-hum, wallāhu 'alīmum biẓ-ẓālimīn
Did you not notice the leaders of the Children of
Israel after the death of Moses, when they said to
one of their prophets, "Appoint a king for us, we
will fight in the way of God." Their Prophet replied,
"Otherwise, if you are obliged to fight, you will not
fight either?" They replied, "Why will we not fight in
the way of Allah, when we have been expelled
from our homes and (separated from) our
children?" But when war was imposed upon them,
they turned away, except a few of them. And Allah
is Aware of the unjust.
247
ﻭَﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻟَﻬُﻢْ ﻧَﺒِﻴُّﻬُﻢْ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﻗَﺪْ ﺑَﻌَﺚَ ﻟَﻜُﻢْ
ﻃَﺎﻟُﻮْﺕَ ﻣَﻠِﻜًﺎ ۗ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْٓﺍ ﺍَﻧّٰﻰ ﻳَﻜُﻮْﻥُ ﻟَﻪُ ﺍﻟْﻤُﻠْﻚُ
ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻨَﺎ ﻭَﻧَﺤْﻦُ ﺍَﺣَﻖُّ ﺑِﺎﻟْﻤُﻠْﻚِ ﻣِﻨْﻪُ ﻭَﻟَﻢْ ﻳُﺆْﺕَ
ﺳَﻌَﺔً ﻣِّﻦَ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺎﻝِۗ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ ﺍﺻْﻄَﻔٰﻯﻪُ
ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻜُﻢْ ﻭَﺯَﺍﺩَﻩٗ ﺑَﺴْﻄَﺔً ﻓِﻰ ﺍﻟْﻌِﻠْﻢِ ﻭَﺍﻟْﺠِﺴْﻢِ ۗ
ﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﻳُﺆْﺗِﻲْ ﻣُﻠْﻜَﻪٗ ﻣَﻦْ ﻳَّﺸَﺎۤﺀُ ۗ ﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ ﻭَﺍﺳِﻊٌ
ﻋَﻠِﻴْﻢٌ
wa qāla lahum nabiyyuhum innallāha qad
ba'aṡa lakum ṭālụta malikā, qālū annā yakụnu
lahul-mulku 'alainā wa naḥnu aḥaqqu bil-
mulki min-hu wa lam yu`ta sa'atam minal-
māl, qāla innallāhaṣṭafāhu 'alaikum wa
zādahụ basṭatan fil 'ilmi wal-jism, wallāhu
yu`tī mulkahụ may yasyā`, wallāhu wāsi'un
'alīm
And their prophet said to them, "Surely God has
raised Talut to be your king." They replied, "How
did Talut get the kingdom over us, when we are
more entitled to the kingdom than him, and he was
not given much wealth?" (The Prophet) replied,
"Allah has chosen him (to be your king) and given
him the advantage of knowledge and physicality."
Allah gives His kingdom to whom He wills, and
Allah is All-Knowing, All-Knowing.
248
ﻭَﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻟَﻬُﻢْ ﻧَﺒِﻴُّﻬُﻢْ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍٰﻳَﺔَ ﻣُﻠْﻜِﻪٖٓ ﺍَﻥْ ﻳَّﺄْﺗِﻴَﻜُﻢُ
ﺍﻟﺘَّﺎﺑُﻮْﺕُ ﻓِﻴْﻪِ ﺳَﻜِﻴْﻨَﺔٌ ﻣِّﻦْ ﺭَّﺑِّﻜُﻢْ ﻭَﺑَﻘِﻴَّﺔٌ ﻣِّﻤَّﺎ
ﺗَﺮَﻙَ ﺍٰﻝُ ﻣُﻮْﺳٰﻰ ﻭَﺍٰﻝُ ﻫٰﺮُﻭْﻥَ ﺗَﺤْﻤِﻠُﻪُ
ﺍﻟْﻤَﻠٰۤﻯِٕﻜَﺔُ ۗ ﺍِﻥَّ ﻓِﻲْ ﺫٰﻟِﻚَ ﻟَﺎٰﻳَﺔً ﻟَّﻜُﻢْ ﺍِﻥْ ﻛُﻨْﺘُﻢْ
ﻣُّﺆْﻣِﻨِﻴْﻦَ
wa qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna āyata
mulkihī ay ya`tiyakumut-tābụtu fīhi
sakīnatum mir rabbikum wa baqiyyatum
mimmā taraka ālu mụsā wa ālu hārụna
taḥmiluhul-malā`ikah, inna fī żālika la`āyatal
lakum ing kuntum mu`minīn
And their prophet said to them, “Surely the sign of
his kingdom is the coming of the Ark to you, in
which there is peace from your Lord and the
remnants of the house of Moses and the house of
Aaron, carried by the angels. Indeed, in that is a
sign for you, if you are believers.
249
ﻓَﻠَﻤَّﺎ ﻓَﺼَﻞَ ﻃَﺎﻟُﻮْﺕُ ﺑِﺎﻟْﺠُﻨُﻮْﺩِ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪَ
ﻣُﺒْﺘَﻠِﻴْﻜُﻢْ ﺑِﻨَﻬَﺮٍۚ ﻓَﻤَﻦْ ﺷَﺮِﺏَ ﻣِﻨْﻪُ ﻓَﻠَﻴْﺲَ ﻣِﻨِّﻲْۚ
ﻭَﻣَﻦْ ﻟَّﻢْ ﻳَﻄْﻌَﻤْﻪُ ﻓَﺎِﻧَّﻪٗ ﻣِﻨِّﻲْٓ ﺍِﻟَّﺎ ﻣَﻦِ ﺍﻏْﺘَﺮَﻑَ
ﻏُﺮْﻓَﺔً ۢﺑِﻴَﺪِﻩٖ ۚ ﻓَﺸَﺮِﺑُﻮْﺍ ﻣِﻨْﻪُ ﺍِﻟَّﺎ ﻗَﻠِﻴْﻠًﺎ ﻣِّﻨْﻬُﻢْ ۗ
ﻓَﻠَﻤَّﺎ ﺟَﺎﻭَﺯَﻩٗ ﻫُﻮَ ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺍٰﻣَﻨُﻮْﺍ ﻣَﻌَﻪٗۙ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْﺍ
ﻟَﺎ ﻃَﺎﻗَﺔَ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ﺍﻟْﻴَﻮْﻡَ ﺑِﺠَﺎﻟُﻮْﺕَ ﻭَﺟُﻨُﻮْﺩِﻩٖ ۗ ﻗَﺎﻝَ
ﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﻳَﻈُﻨُّﻮْﻥَ ﺍَﻧَّﻬُﻢْ ﻣُّﻠٰﻘُﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ۙ ﻛَﻢْ ﻣِّﻦْ ﻓِﺌَﺔٍ
ﻗَﻠِﻴْﻠَﺔٍ ﻏَﻠَﺒَﺖْ ﻓِﺌَﺔً ﻛَﺜِﻴْﺮَﺓً ۢﺑِﺎِﺫْﻥِ ﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪِ ۗ ﻭَﺍﻟﻠّٰﻪُ
ﻣَﻊَ ﺍﻟﺼّٰﺒِﺮِﻳْﻦَ
fa lammā faṣala ṭālụtu bil-junụdi qāla
innallāha mubtalīkum binahar, fa man syariba
min-hu fa laisa minnī, wa mal lam yaṭ'am-hu
fa innahụ minnī illā manigtarafa gurfatam
biyadih, fa syaribụ min-hu illā qalīlam min-
hum, fa lammā jāwazahụ huwa wallażīna
āmanụ ma'ahụ qālụ lā ṭāqata lanal-yauma
bijālụta wa junụdih, qālallażīna yaẓunnụna
annahum mulāqullāhi kam min fi`ating
qalīlatin galabat fi`atang kaṡīratam
bi`iżnillāh, wallāhu ma'aṣ-ṣābirīn
So when Talut brought his army, he said, “Allah will
test you with a river. So whoever drinks (the water),
he is not a follower. And whoever does not drink it,
then he is my follower except for a sip with his
hand. " But they drank it except a few of them.
When he (Talut) and those who believed with him
crossed the river, they said, "We are no longer
strong today against Jalut and his army." Those
who believe that they will meet God say, "How
many small groups defeat large groups with God's
permission." And Allah is with those who are
patient.
250
ﻭَﻟَﻤَّﺎ ﺑَﺮَﺯُﻭْﺍ ﻟِﺠَﺎﻟُﻮْﺕَ ﻭَﺟُﻨُﻮْﺩِﻩٖ ﻗَﺎﻟُﻮْﺍ ﺭَﺑَّﻨَﺎٓ
ﺍَﻓْﺮِﻍْ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻨَﺎ ﺻَﺒْﺮًﺍ ﻭَّﺛَﺒِّﺖْ ﺍَﻗْﺪَﺍﻣَﻨَﺎ ﻭَﺍﻧْﺼُﺮْﻧَﺎ
ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﺍﻟْﻘَﻮْﻡِ ﺍﻟْﻜٰﻔِﺮِﻳْﻦَ ۗ
wa lammā barazụ lijālụta wa junụdihī qālụ
rabbanā afrig 'alainā ṣabraw wa ṡabbit
aqdāmanā wanṣurnā 'alal-qaumil-kāfirīn
And when they advanced against Goliath and his
army, they prayed, "Our Lord, grant us patience,
strengthen our steps and help us to face the
disbelievers."
